Overview
In the Usercentrics for Wix app you can usually place components into categories such as Essential, Marketing, or Functional. Sometimes components appear as Unknown, or setting them to Essential does not allow them to run.
This happens because categorization and blocking are handled jointly between Usercentrics and Wix. The app shows you the options, but whether a component can actually be recategorized or marked Essential depends on what Wix has enabled for that component type.
Recategorizing Unknown Components
- Components marked as Unknown are not yet mapped in Wix.
- If Wix has enabled recategorization for that component, you will see an “edit category” option in the app.
- If the option is missing, recategorization is locked until Wix enables it.
Assigning Components to Essential
- Assigning a service or component to Essential is the correct setup in the Usercentrics app.
- Essential status only works if Wix allows it for that component type.
- If support has not been enabled, the service may still be blocked even though it is marked Essential.
What You Can Do
- Check the options in the app
- If you see “edit category,” you can change it.
- If you do not see the option, the component cannot be changed yet.
- Share details with us
- Let us know the affected component and your website domain.
- We collect these cases and share them with Wix so they are aware of the demand.
- Stay updated
- Wix gradually enables support for more components.
- There is no confirmed timeline for individual components, but customer feedback helps us prioritize which requests we pass on.
Summary
- Recategorization is locked unless Wix has enabled it.
- Essential only works when Wix has opened support for that component type.
- Unknown components cannot be changed until Wix provides the option.
- If you run into this, please send us your domain and the component so we can escalate it to Wix.
